Wanaka Recreation Centre
Nestled below towering mountains at the end of its namesake lake, Wanaka is a beautiful resort town on New Zealand’s South Island.
With the area’s rapidly expanding population, the town is enjoying expanded facilities including Three Parks, a 100-hectare mixed-use development. It will create a new commercial area complete with some large-scale retail shops, smaller shops and services; a business park; new residential sections; and a tourism and community precinct.
Part of this development is the new, state-of-art Wanaka Recreation Centre, which has already become a hub for community sports (with several social sporting leagues), events and programs. The indoor stadium and outdoor artificial turf can be configured for netball, basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, futsal and hockey – and a brand new swimming pool complex is in the making.
As a community drawcard that doubles as an events centre – for gala dinners, conferences, trade shows and private functions – the right seating and facilities were essential. Urban Effects was privileged to supply customised solutions to ensure this high-traffic, high-use development was contemporary, inviting and comfortable.
Modern, durable bench seating with rounded bull nose edges – along with bespoke timber platform ‘loungers’ – set the scene for relaxed socialising and rest. Strong, streamlined Ecoside Litter Bins ensure effect and convenient rubbish control, while Chamonix signs are a helpful style statement.
