Rāwhiti School

Fresh, practical, simple

At Rāwhiti School scooters are a very popular mode of transport, however with a large percentage of their 550 students choosing to travel this way, storage and security was becoming a challenge.

As working with local suppliers is important to their ethos, the school approached Urban Effects for an effective solution, which was found in our Kiwi Z scooter rack.

It’s a compact and neat way to store scooters, with the added benefits of padlocks for extra security. We supplied 20 racks to house 140 scooters. Once in place, the school found there were some scooters that did not fit the standardised unit, and we were happy to work with them to create four customised frames that were modified especially to fit their requirements. These were finished in a different powdercoat colour to make it easy to distinguish them from the standard racks. The customisation created, in their words: “an excellent solution that the school are extremely happy with”.

As we worked through the scooter project the school identified a secondary challenge: the secure storage of skateboards.

Not having a skateboard rack in our product range didn’t stop us from finding a way to create a solution. We relished the opportunity to flex our innovation and creativity!

Our operations team worked in consultation with the school to create a prototype skateboard rack, and then install several of these units within the school. As with the scooter storage, our new Kiwi Skateboard rack offers space for padlocks and is a neat and safe way to store all different types and sizes of skateboards.

The school now boasts a large, effective, attractive, ordered and secure environment for their students’ diverse transport selections – with a noticeable increase of students bringing these to school. That’s got to be a great outcome in fighting a sedentary lifestyle!

Urban Effects found it extremely rewarding to be part of this consultative process and are pleased to offer the new Skateboard Rack to all our customers.
