Community connection and inclusivity underpin the recent upgrades to Lorenzdale Park, Whanganui, with a large barbecue area the latest addition.
Public consultation informed the dual-stage project led by community leader Kath Parnell of Te Ora Hou, a faith-based youth and community development organisation working with young people and families across the country.
Covered by the versatile and spacious Skillion Shelter, designed to withstand the harshest conditions, the modern Urban Double Gas BBQ features extra-large stainless steel cooking plates and benches, making catering for larger crowds a breeze. The versatility of gas ensures that great Kiwi outdoor cooking experience in any remote location where electricity is scarce.
The two stylish and practical Woodlands Deluxe Pedestal Table Settings have been specifically designed for wheelchair access and easy entry, while the matching Woodlands Deluxe Benches ensure there’s plenty of seating for family, friends and neighbours.
The 100L MODO100 Stainless Steel Tilt Rubbish Bin features a stainless steel body and cover lid to shield from rain and prevent household dumping.
As well as the barbecue area, stage one of the multi-faceted community space included the installation of exercise equipment able to be used by people of all ability levels from our partners Playground Centre. Stage two will include a volleyball net, replacement of one of the park’s play areas and renovation of the basketball court.
