Lions Junior Cycle Park, Gisborne

The Lions Junior Cycle Park has truly been a community effort to bring the unique cycle park to life and provide a valuable community investment. With the Gisborne Wainui Lions’ heavily involved in getting support for the development of the site, the park’s name was given in their honour. They wanted to see the region’s children having fun in the outdoors whilst learning to be safe and confident users of our roads and cycleways for years.

The cycle park provides a controlled environment in which children can encounter real-life cycling situations, focussing on road safety. It is used year-round by local schools, preschools and families as well as the many visiting families who holiday in Gisborne all year round.

Urban Effects worked with Gisborne District Council, Gisborne Wainui Lions and Siteworx Civil to provide durable hardwood and aluminium Citistyle table settings and an attractive standout blue Z440 Hydrate drinking fountain offering comfort and convenience to visiting families. Metro stainless steel bike racks and back-to back powdercoated aluminium scooter racks were also supplied to store the ‘wheels’ when not in use.
