Kapiti Town Centre Upgrade – Rimu Rd
The Kapiti Coast District Council has a 14-year plan for revitalising town centres in the region to ensure these coastal communities remain vibrant places to live, work and visit.
Urban Effects has been involved from the project’s first stages, working alongside the Council and its partners, architects Boffa Miskell and civil contractors Brian Perry Civil, on the Paraparaumu town centre upgrade. So, we were pleased to help the Council achieve its vision for the historic village of Rimu, which is named after one of New Zealand’s most iconic native trees.
The streetscape in Rimu’s cinema and shopping precinct was updated to improve pedestrian access and amenities. Urban Effects’ involvement ensured the street furniture selected was consistent with the upgrades completed in Paraparaumu, while offering a tailored solution to meet the Rimu community’s needs.
Benches and seating from Urban Effects’ versatile Liffiton range were installed along with Metropol 3P Technology Bollards and Spencer Bins.
The Liffiton seating range is an attractive and practical solution where the objective is to encourage people to connect. Available in an array of sizes and configurations, pieces from the timber bench and seating range can be customised and configured to complement any landscape, setting or purpose.
The Metropol 3P Technology Bollards are manufactured from heavy duty marine grade aluminium and can be powdercoated in a range of colours. Tough enough to withstand wear and tear of high traffic areas and all weather conditions, these bollards can also be easily removed and repaired if required.
While the simple, attractive design of the Spencer bin is a stylish, waste management solution. The Spencer bin is available in two sizes and finishes – stainless steel or powdercoated to the colour of your choice, or a Corten steel finish.
