Havelock North Village Green

Voted New Zealand’s most beautiful suburb in the 2017 Keep New Zealand Beautiful Awards, Havelock North is located at the foot of Te Mata Peak in picturesque Hawke’s Bay. A quaint country town that’s known for its thriving arts and café culture, it also has plenty to offer those who love the outdoors.

The Village Green offers residents and visitors a multitude of play and recreational choices. The expansive open space is situated alongside the Village Pools and features large grassed areas, a skate park, massive kids’ playground and The Mackersey Family Pavilion which houses the Toy Library and function spaces. Re-opened to the public in April 2017 following a major re-development, the Village Green has become the vibrant heart of Havelock North.

Urban Effects was proud to be a part of this exciting project, working with Hastings District Council to ensure this community space was fitted with high quality street furniture and amenities.

Our sturdy Kiwi Tree Grates and Kiwi Tree Guards were installed to protect the trees that have been planted to offer additional shade for park-goers, and a Ghisella Heritage-style fountain was selected to complement the village aesthetic. The Council also opted to add a BBQ facility to the Village Pools complex from our range of safe, easy to use and maintain, ‘plug and play’ BBQs.
