The Crossing Retail Precinct

Christchurch’s exciting new retail precinct, The Crossing, has breathed life into the one-hectare city block bounded by Lichfield, Cashel and Colombo Streets that was left devastated after the 2011 earthquake. The multi-million-dollar re-development project is a striking example of progressive urban design, combining heritage facades with cutting edge architecture, enticing laneways and open public spaces to create a vibrant city heart.

Christchurch City Council called on Urban Effects to assist them to select street furniture that would complement The Crossing’s fashionable mix of international and local retail outlets, cafes, restaurants and offices.

Standard and notched benches from the popular Liffiton Range were chosen for their contemporary aesthetics and sophisticated, but practical design and their ability to be delivered and installed in a surprisingly short timeframe.

Made in New Zealand from high quality, locally sourced timber, the Liffiton benches are the perfect height, width and length to comfortably accommodate shoppers wanting to put their bags down and pause awhile amidst all of the hustle and bustle.
