Timaru Town Centre

“Last year your organisation designed and fabricated MyWay Parklet Shelter Structure for Timaru District Council, which was installed in March 2023.
We have been amazed by the positive feedback received from the community and how well it has been utilised by the public, to the extent that we are now looking at a further shelter structure to be installed in the CBD.”
– Gillian Catchpowle   |   Timaru District Council

Innovative, inclusive and functional design underpins the bespoke MyWay parklet in Timaru Town Centre, installed as part of a national push to provide communities with a wider range of sustainable transport options.

Working alongside Timaru District Council, our South Island specialists designed and manufactured an attractive, wheelchair accessible and relocatable commuter shelter for MyWay, the on-demand transport service replacing the timetabled bus service.

The all-weather, dual-entry timber and steel parklet features a range of seating options, including multi-height benches, an interactive play panel for the kids and a perforated industrial stools at a bar leaner table.

Twin solar are installed on the roof powering its lights and phone charging stations, while planters attached to outside walls provide a pop of greenery. Green and purple accents mirror the streetscape of the town centre.

Timaru District Council is the first of 46 councils to deliver a project from the New Zealand Government’s $350m Transport Choices programme, designed to cut carbon emissions.
